And what of this thought that I found?
As I’m burning it all down…
The “ancient structure” I’m burning down relates to doing things differently than I previously had in order to get back to that “day in the sun”.

Cold Night is a song I composed in 2003, one of the first composed at that point since a few years prior. I was in a brand new environment suddenly, with none of my former resources at my command. I felt a chill in the air I had not felt in years, having lived in Arizona for a stretch. This I imagined to be metaphorical to my feelings of alienation at my foreign environment. I then imagined love to have been that which helps lift the spirit rather than that which could capture or even destroy it.
