Blended Folk

Step into a world where creativity knows no bounds. From the depths of my imagination, I conjure ideas that transcend the ordinary. I consider myself fortunate to wield this double-edged sword. On one side, the edge gleams sharp with boundless creativity. On the other side, it reveals the struggle to survive solely through the power of that creativity. Everyone wonders, “What are you guys called?” Well, greetings! I’m Jeff, and the virtuoso I jam with is Chris.

Together, we are Blended Folk — Jeff Adams and Chris McDonough.

Our journey as musicians began in the early 1990s, under the name Tabula Rasa, igniting stages and capturing hearts at open mic nights in bars and coffee shops. Fate intervened, expanding our musical horizons as we welcomed the immensely talented bassist and singer, Ric Stanlee, into our fold briefly. However, a chance encounter in 1991 alerted me to a popular band with the same name in Seattle — an unwelcome coincidence that haunted me. Consequently, we abandoned the name, delving into a whirlwind of alternative options. While I personally found “Bong Hobbitz” intriguing, it failed to captivate our collective tastes. Eventually, we settled on “Prescott Alley,” a nostalgic tribute to cherished jam sessions at a prominent alley in West Chester, PA. Though not without grumbles, the name stuck, and with the addition of Tom Zartler on bass and Dennette Myers on drums, we began a new chapter.

Enter Frozen Pop — a name coined by Dennette herself, signaling a fresh start in 1993. Yet, as individual projects beckoned in 1994, the name outlived the band, persisting though as booking requests flooded in from all corners. It was during this period that Chris and I resumed our musical partnership as the acoustic duo, still performing as Frozen Pop, delighting audiences with our captivating and fun shows. I clung to the name until the turn of the millennium, when radio airplay finally embraced my music.

For a while, Chris immersed himself in several projects, leaving me to explore the musical realm solo for a number of years – a performance facet I still very much enjoy. In 2012, Chris and I resurfaced on the public stage, breathing life into our music once more. Although I attempted to resurrect the Frozen Pop name, it felt like beating a dead horse. Thus, the concept of “blendedfolk” emerged during our hiatus, initially serving as the foundation for my passion-driven podcasts. Yet, as the allure of podcasting waned, I revamped the name (as “Blended Folk”) to encompass our distinct musical identity. Undeniably, it is the best name yet — a testament to the harmonious fusion of our talents.

Join us on this extraordinary odyssey where creativity knows no boundaries. Blended Folk awaits, poised to captivate your soul with melodies that transcend time.
